One of the largest citites against self-driving cars has made a partnership with Lyft. The new partnership will allow them to offer self-driving car rides in the Seaport District and the Fort Point neighborhood. Lyft is hoping to be able to release the automous ride-sharing program thoughout the city by the end of the year. Boston joins Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Las Vegas in allowing the public to catch a ride in a self-driving car.

Lyft has also gotten the green light to put self-driving cars on California roads. They already has a number of agreements in place with self-driving companies to help advance its own purposes. They have also teamed up with Ford Motor Company to bring autonomous vehicles to the public. “We expect that our partnership with Lyft will accelerate our efforts to build a profitable and viable self-driving vehicle business,” Sherif Marakby, Ford’s vice president of autonomous vehicles and electrification, wrote in a Medium post about the collaboration.
