She writes, “With a sad heart, I must announce that Bruiser Woods (aka Moonie) has passed away…”
On her Instagram account she continues, “He was a sweet little Chihuahua who was very loved. I will never forget all the days we spent together … I’m sure his tail is wagging in the sky. Sending love to his trainer, the wonderful @tailsticks #RIPBruiser.”
In one of the most adorable Hollywood star-pet stories, Witherspoon and Moonie became close while filming for Legally Blonde. According to Moonie’s trainer Sue Chipperton, Moonie and Witherspoon had become inseparable during the movie’s shooting. She further went on to describe how Moonie enjoyed literally every scene he shot with Witherspoon – including the scene where he gets to sit inside her purse.
Chipperton also said that Witherspoon fell in love with the dog at first sight. She would go the extra mile during the shootings in order to make it work with Moonie. Training dogs have strict regime so it is not easy becoming friends with them.
According to Chipperton, “She just got it, and always wanted to do whatever would help Moonie succeed.”
There will be a memorial for Moonie at Reese Witherspoon’s house on Friday.
Celebrity loving their pets to a great extent is not new (surprise, they are human too!). It is known that superstars like Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron and various other celebrities are crazy about their dogs. In fact actor Josh Duhamel not only posts a lot of pictures of him with his dog, he is also an advocate for animal rights. He regularly visits, funds and campaigns for shelters and rescuers.
