5. Pose (FX)

The white, wealthy world of Bonfire depicts two cities running in parallel, the ‘masters of the universe’ holding court over a gritty town was broken into enclaves of race and class. Set in the 1980s and co-created by Ryan Murphy, Pose is a dance musical that explores ball culture and the rise of the luxury Trump-era world, as well as the downtown social and literary scene. The series — Murphy’s last at FX before moving to Netflix — makes television history as it features the most transgender actors in series regular roles and the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors ever for a scripted series.

6. Disenchantment (Netflix)

Set within the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, Disenchantment follows the misadventures of a hard-drinking young princess named Bean (voiced by Abbi Jacobson), her feisty elf companion Elfo (Nat Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Eric Andre). Along the way, the trio encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools. Matt Groening and Josh Weinstein (The Simpsons, Futurama) serve as executive producers.

7. Dietland (AMC)

AMC Releases Trailer for Wickedly Funny and Extraordinarily Timed Satire Dietland

Julianna Margulies and her penchant for fabulous wigs return to television with Dietland, a bitingly satirical take on modern beauty and fashion standards. To give a taste of the bonkers plot: Margulies plays a glamorous magazine editor who tasks an overweight ghostwriter (played by Joy Nash) with writing her monthly letters to the editor column, only for this writer to rebel against the system by joining an underground anarchist group that … kills bad men. I told you, it’s bonkers!
