Summertime, and the livings easy. Which means, it’s time to get outside with your favorite fur friend. Honestly, if I could take my dog with me everywhere, I would. However, since that’s just not possible, here are the top five dog-friendly things to do this summer.

Have a Picnic in the Park

A classic idea is also one of the most simple and cheap. It’s also one of the most dog-friendly things you can do with your pup this summer! Pack up some tennis balls, water for the pups, wine for you and a human friend, plus any other snacks you might like to enjoy. If you make it peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, you can even share the peanut butter with the dogs!

Take a Beach Day

Who doesn’t love the beach? Enjoying a day on the beach with your pup just makes it that much better. Obviously, double check that your local beach is dog-friendly. If it is, pack your bags and head towards the water. I promise your fur friend will not be disappointed.

Head to the Farmer’s Market

One of the best places to grab some new goods and spend time with your doggo, the farmers market. Not only can you buy locally-sourced products, but markets are often packed with people and dogs. It’s a great way to enjoy the weather and for your dog to enjoy a different kind of walk!

Take a Hike

One of my favorite things to do when it’s warm outside is to grab my dog and head to the trail. Invite your human friends and head out to your local hiking trail. While you and your pals talk and catch up, the dogs can splash together in a stream. No steams along the trail, no worries! The dogs will still have a great time.

Head to the Dog Park

If you haven’t been to the dog park yet, it’s time to make some moves! While some dog parks are fenced in, be careful cause some may not be. Sometimes you can even bring drinks for you and your human friends. A local splash pad is also a great alternative if pups are allowed to go in. Just be sure you always have your dog under your voice control and you’re all set! Heads up: Some town pools have a “dog day” where dogs can enjoy the water before they close up the pool for the end of summer, so ask if your local pool offers something like that.
