4) Neglecting Responsibilities
Missed commitments, flunking in school, getting fired, and child neglect are all signs of alcoholism. Missing work due to hangovers and making career destroying mistakes show a distinct lack of control. However, drinking reduces or even removes the motivation people need to be successful in their career.
Alcoholics have difficulty managing daily activities and will desert chores and the tasks needed to keep their homes habitable and bills paid, diminishing their quality of life and credit scores. Taking time off to check in to a detox center may not boost anyone’s career, but sobriety and improved productivity and performance more than balance for lost time.
