Reasons Why You Need to Get More Rest

There are many reasons to get more sleep but here’s an important one: you may die prematurely if you don’t. So keep yourself alive longer by indulging in a good nights rest.

The Results are In

Although many won’t believe that a lack of sleep could literally kill you, the results are in. Research revealed during the annual meeting of the European Society of Cardiology, stated that getting eight hours of sleep a night can reduce the risk of stroke. Another study says that middle-aged men who sleep less than five hours have a significantly increased risk of cardiac events. Last but not least, a third study has shown a direct connection between sleeping fewer hours and living shorter lives.

If that’s not enough to scare you to sleep, the Centers for Disease Control claims that those who sleep less than seven hours are more likely to suffer from obesity, diabetes, and mental distress.

Go Get Some Rest

These studies, and many more like them, all seem to agree that getting a full night’s sleep is probably a good idea. It’s of the utmost importance if you want to live a healthier, more productive—and longer—life. But avoiding the Grim Reaper isn’t the only reason why you should get more sleep.

The best reason to get more sleep is that sleep will make you feel good. There is no better feeling than slipping under the covers during a cool fall night and dozing into snoozeland. You’ll always feel better the next day if you get enough sleep the night before.

Indulge Yourself

There is no difference between enjoying your favorite food, spending time with your favorite people, and sleeping in a comfortable bed. Life is short, treat yourself to a good nights rest. Eating veggies, and breaking a sweat, and making sure you get eight hours of Zzzs, will improve your health and make you more productive. Do them because they are a nice thing to do for you. Do things that are nice to yourself and others.

There is too much emphasis on working and hustling and performing. Give yourself a break, splurge on a good mattress, and treat yourself to a nice sleep.
